About the Role

Join Datadog's Security Agent team and play a pivotal role in developing the core technologies that power our Workload Protection, Vulnerability Management, and Cloud Security products. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing low-level Linux instrumentation and runtime security solutions that enable customers to detect threats, monitor system activity, and secure cloud-native workloads at scale. This position offers substantial ownership, broad organizational influence, and the chance to define the trajectory of Datadog's security platform.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the architecture and development of security agent capabilities crucial for runtime threat detection and workload protection across Datadog Security products.
  • Design and build reusable eBPF-based monitoring functionalities for comprehensive process, file, and network visibility within Linux environments.
  • Drive the complete lifecycle of new features, from initial technical strategy and design through to implementation, rigorous testing, and successful rollout.
  • Develop and refine testing methodologies to enhance platform coverage, detection accuracy, system reliability, and overall performance.
  • Collaborate closely with product, security, infrastructure, and engineering teams to deliver robust, shared platform capabilities utilized across numerous Datadog products.
  • Provide strong technical leadership, influencing engineering direction, mentoring fellow engineers, and resolving complex cross-functional challenges.

Who You Are

  • Possess significant experience in building software within Linux environments, with a solid understanding of Linux internals, kernel APIs, or systems programming.
  • Have hands-on experience with eBPF, kernel-level instrumentation, driver development, networking systems, agent development, or similar low-level technologies.
  • Proven track record of building and operating systems where performance and reliability are paramount.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining production software across a variety of Linux distributions and kernel versions.
  • Exhibit a product-minded and customer-focused approach, adept at balancing technical excellence with tangible customer impact and usability.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership capabilities, influencing architectural decisions and execution across teams, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
