Finance Manager- Part Time (20 hours/wk)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-starting Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations within a fast-moving deep-tech startup. This position involves direct collaboration with the CEO and external partners, covering the full spectrum of company finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Invoice & Banking: Manage payments, reconciliation, end-of-month close, and Finway operations.
• Grant Administration (ProFit/IBB): Handle milestone reporting, timesheets, and fund-call submissions.
• Cash Flow Management: Develop monthly projections versus budget, track departmental spending, and monitor runway.
• Payroll: Coordinate with an external provider for payment processing and manage onboarding/offboarding payroll aspects.
• Financial Reporting: Serve as the primary contact for external accountants, support annual statement preparation, and manage shareholder documentation.
• FZulG Tax Credit: Prepare and submit R&D tax credit applications, and liaise with relevant authorities.

What We're Looking For

• Completed Ausbildung or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of German accounting standards and payroll requirements.
• Familiarity with DATEV, Finway, or similar financial management tools is preferred.
• Previous experience with German grant/funding administration is a strong asset.
• Fluency in German is required; working-level English is also necessary.
• Highly organized, independent, and proactive individuals comfortable taking ownership of challenges within a small team.
