Commercial Finance Business Partner - Security Service Line

Control Risks seeks a strategic Commercial Finance Business Partner to serve as the primary finance point of contact for the Security service line leadership team. This role is crucial for driving commercial finance expertise, profitability initiatives, and performance analysis.

About the Role

The Commercial Finance Business Partner will partner with the Managing Partner and their leadership team to embed commercial discipline across pricing, margin management, working capital, and investment decisions. The role focuses on translating financial insight into clear, actionable steps, working closely with FP&A to ensure high-quality reporting and forecasting.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Enablement

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and "One Firm" behaviors.
  • Build trusted relationships with Partners and senior stakeholders, communicating succinct, decision-useful insights.
  • Act as the primary commercial finance point of contact for the Security service line, providing clear, actionable insights.
  • Provide responsive, high-quality support and ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Champion the adoption and effective use of Commercial Tools and standard reporting.
  • Shape and deliver a prioritized commercial agenda for Security (margin, pricing, portfolio mix, cash).

Business Partner Support

  • Serve as the primary finance contact for the Security service line, coordinating with FP&A, Financial Control, and Operations.
  • Lead analysis and insight on revenue quality, margin drivers, pricing effectiveness, and discounting behavior, translating findings into clear actions.
  • Partner with Security leadership to improve deal economics.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc performance insights to senior management.
  • Support the design, delivery, and governance of the Margin Improvement Plan Program.
  • Drive pricing discipline, supporting bid strategy and ensuring commercial terms align with target margins and risk appetite.
  • Use Commercial Tools to improve pricing decision consistency and transparency.

Reporting

  • Act as the interface between assigned service lines and FP&A for reporting, translating results into actionable insight and shaping the forward-looking narrative.

Forecasting / Budgeting

  • Ensure Partners are thoroughly briefed on the planning process.
  • Work alongside FP&A in budget and quarterly forecasting cycles, supporting Security to build realistic, driver-based plans.
  • Review and challenge business submissions, ensuring plans balance risks and opportunities.
  • Own high-quality and insightful Quarterly Business Review material.
  • Provide strategic and long-term financial planning support, including capital allocation recommendations.

Systems, Processes & Controls

  • Identify and implement efficiency and value improvements, with a focus on AI adoption.
  • Work with Financial Control and Operations to ensure the integrity of financial data.

Other / Ad Hoc

  • Develop and roll out Commercial training initiatives.

Requirements

  • CPA highly desirable.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Commercial Finance professional.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Clear and concise communicator, adept at conveying financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to understand business goals beyond numbers.
  • Proven experience as a true business partner aiding in decisions that directly resulted in increased profitability/margins.
  • Proven ability to work independently, build strong stakeholder relationships, and deliver high-quality service without direct line management.
  • Demonstrated use of Microsoft Copilot or AI-enabled tools to enhance working practices.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Comfortable operating in newly formed or evolving functions.
  • Preferred: Professional Services experience.
  • Preferred: Microsoft D365 experience.
  • Preferred: Power BI experience.
  • Preferred: Tagetik experience.

Benefits

  • Base salary range: $115,000 - $130,000 per year.
