About the Role
Ooma is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Telecommunications Platform Team, reporting to the Director of Engineering. You will play a pivotal role in developing a robust, geographically distributed, and redundant calling platform that will support the future of Ooma's communication services.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain a geographically distributed calling platform capable of supporting millions of minutes and thousands of simultaneous sessions — infrastructure that powers real communication at massive scale.
- Work on cutting-edge AI features integrated directly into a carrier-grade platform, solving hard problems around latency, reliability, and throughput.
- Collaborate closely with a passionate team of engineers to ship features that directly impact how Ooma’s customers communicate.
- Dive deep into niche and emerging technologies, contributing to architectural decisions that shape the future of the platform.
- Debug complex, distributed systems issues and drive solutions end-to-end, from root cause to production.
Experience We're Looking For
- Recent college graduate with a degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Strong programming fundamentals with a hunger to level up fast in a real-world, high-stakes environment.
- Solid understanding of IP networking concepts — and a curiosity to go deeper.
- A genuine excitement for learning bleeding-edge and niche technologies.
- A self-starter mentality with a proactive approach to ownership and problem-solving.

Location
This role is full remote, with the expectation to work near Eastern Standard Time for the initial training period of 6-12 months.

Salary Range
New York Pay Range: $94,000—$120,000 USD
