About the Role

As the Head of M&A, you will be the primary architect of the platform's inorganic expansion. You will assume full ownership of the acquisition pipeline, from identifying and engaging suitable targets within the German Mittelstand to structuring and negotiating transactions, and crucially, overseeing post-merger integration alongside the dedicated operating team. This role demands more than just deal execution; it requires an owner's mindset, active contribution to the consolidation thesis, and seamless liaison between platform management, the shareholder group, and external advisors. The position offers a natural evolution into broader operational responsibilities within the platform over time.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the acquisition strategy in close alignment with the shareholder group.
• Independently originate, value, and negotiate add-on targets within the German Mittelstand.
• Manage due diligence processes and coordinate external advisors (legal, tax, commercial).
• Drive post-merger integration, focusing on value creation and operational alignment.
• Build and maintain a robust network of entrepreneurs, advisors, and intermediaries.
• Report to and collaborate closely with the shareholder group.

Requirements

We are seeking a candidate with 8-10 years of professional experience, possessing a strong M&A or transaction background. What will truly set you apart is hands-on experience within Buy & Build environments, whether gained on the platform side, within an investment team, or in a portfolio operations or operating partner capacity. Specific qualifications include:

• A demonstrable track record in Buy & Build contexts, ideally from the platform or fund side.
• A strong understanding of mid-market company structures, owner-operator dynamics, and succession planning themes.
• Experience working collaboratively with Private Equity shareholders; fund experience is explicitly preferred.
• A structured, entrepreneurial mindset characterized by a high degree of ownership and autonomy.
• Comfort and confidence in both boardroom settings and hands-on workshops with target management teams.
• Fluency in German and excellent command of English.
