We are humani, a strategic HR partner for a well-funded, Switzerland-based seed engineering startup operating in stealth mode. We are backed by established family office investors with a long-term commitment and are building a globally distributed, fully remote team of scientists and engineers collaborating across time zones, disciplines, and industries. Our working model is intentionally flexible, allowing contributors to join as consultants, freelancers, or part-time collaborators while maintaining other professional commitments. Opportunities for full-time roles will arise as the company grows.
The Role
We are seeking a Statistical Data Scientist who combines rigorous statistical thinking, scientific curiosity, and modern analytical methods to transform complex experimental and biological data into actionable insights. Your focus will be on enabling better scientific and business decisions through evidence, uncertainty quantification, and clear interpretation, rather than solely on model building.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with seed engineers, breeders, biologists, and data engineers.
- Translate complex statistical results into clear, decision-ready insights.
- Design and analyze biological and experimental datasets with statistical rigor.
- Build predictive models for breeding and product development decisions.
- Apply machine learning where it adds meaningful value beyond classical statistics.
- Ensure experimental conclusions are robust, reproducible, and well-validated.
What You Bring:
- MSc or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Quantitative Genetics, Econometrics, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in statistical inference, experimental design, regression, and mixed models.
- Experience with Python and/or R.
- Familiarity with predictive modeling and modern machine learning approaches.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex reasoning.
- Curiosity for scientific problem-solving beyond standard analytics.
