About the Role

Moonshot is recruiting a Senior Manager to lead the delivery and growth of its Canada programs portfolio, which includes online violence prevention and public safety initiatives. This role involves strategic, operational, and people leadership, overseeing program delivery, client and partner engagement, business development support, team management, and external representation. You will be the Canada-based lead for program operations and stakeholder engagement, supporting the continued growth of Moonshot’s work in Canada and potentially contributing to initiatives in Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities

Program & Portfolio Leadership

  • Serve as the operational lead for Moonshot’s Canada programs portfolio, overseeing complex, multi-year public safety and online violence prevention initiatives.
  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong client outcomes, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Oversee project planning, staffing, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and delivery timelines.
  • Lead prioritization and operational decision-making across competing program needs.
  • Ensure programs comply with contractual, legal, ethical, and organizational requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of quality assurance and operational rigor.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary relationship manager for Canadian clients, funders, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with government agencies, NGOs, technology companies, law enforcement, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent Moonshot externally in meetings, briefings, and conferences.
  • Support strategic coordination across partners to ensure effective program implementation.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and management to Canada-based staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and mission-driven team culture.
  • Support workforce planning, hiring, performance management, and professional development.
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication with internal teams supporting Canada programs.

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Identify strategic opportunities, partnerships, and funding avenues for growth in Canada.
  • Contribute to proposal development, renewals, and partnership cultivation.
  • Support external communications and thought leadership efforts.

Risk, Compliance & Organizational Stewardship

  • Identify, manage, and escalate operational, reputational, and delivery risks.
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements, ethics obligations, and data protection regulations.
  • Maintain clear internal documentation and operational systems.
  • Contribute to organizational learning and process improvement.

Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, teams, budgets, partners, and clients.
  • Ability to operationalize strategy into effective systems and workflows.
  • Strong judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity and sensitive stakeholder environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience supporting business development, grant funding, or government procurement.
  • Relevant professional or research experience in homeland security, public safety, countering violent extremism, or other online harms.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and drive results.
  • Willingness to travel and work outside regular hours when needed.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to undergo security clearance procedures.
  • High trustworthiness and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Commitment to Moonshot’s mission.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Professional fluency in French.
  • Experience collaborating with technology platforms or Trust & Safety teams.
  • Subject matter expertise in public health, extremism, gun violence, hate crimes, hate speech, or violence intervention methods.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Experience with project management tools (Monday.com, Asana).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 115,000 CAD - 140,000 CAD
  • Benefits: 25 days paid vacation, statutory holidays, full private healthcare (including partners/children), dental & vision insurance, life & disability insurance, 24/7 free counseling via EAP, generous maternity (26 weeks paid) and paternity (8 weeks paid) leave, share options upon employment.
