Who We Hire

Mission

This role is dedicated to building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers dynamic, catalogue-driven advertising at scale. The CDA team owns the feeds and data ingestion layer, transforming large-scale product catalogues and transaction data from retailers into the building blocks for high-performing ads on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest. This engineer is essential for platform scalability, data flow, and advertiser success.

Role Type

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 4 days per week.

Outcomes — What Success Looks Like in 6–12 Months

  • End-to-End Feature Ownership: Ship multiple features independently, from technical design through deployment and monitoring, with minimal oversight and high production quality.
  • Improved Data Ingestion Reliability: Identify and resolve bottlenecks or failure points in the feeds/ingestion pipeline, measurably improving uptime, latency, or data accuracy.
  • Platform Thinking: Design clear API boundaries and system decisions that balance consuming teams' needs with long-term platform health, earning trust from peers and leads.
  • Elevated Code Quality: Consistently deliver thorough code reviews that improve maintainability, testing, and observability practices across the team.
  • AI-Native Engineering Growth: Integrate AI-assisted development tools meaningfully into your workflow, demonstrating how they expand scope or quality.

Skills — Core Technical Capabilities

Required:

  • 4+ years building and maintaining production backend services or platforms.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Node.js, Go, Python, Ruby, or equivalent).
  • Experience designing services that process high-volume data (ingestion, transformation, or analysis at scale).
  • Ability to define clean API boundaries and reason clearly about system design tradeoffs.
  • Solid practices in testing, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers, PMs, and designers.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to distributed systems, high-availability platforms, or large-scale data pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud or containerized environments (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).

Competencies — Behaviors We Like to See

Ownership without Prompting: Take features from design to production and follow through on monitoring and iteration without being asked; address issues proactively.
Platform Thinking over Short-Term Fixes: Make system design decisions considering how other teams will build upon the work; advocate for technical debt management and balanced tradeoffs.
AI-Native Craft: Possess a clear perspective on how AI tools enhance engineering practices; demonstrate intellectual curiosity and willingness to experiment with tooling.
Collaborative Standard-Setting: Use code reviews as craft conversations, providing feedback that improves code and engineers; invest in pairing and knowledge sharing with junior teammates.
