About the Team

About Your Role
As the Head of Risk & Fraud, you will be the ultimate owner of trust and loss prevention across the entire business. You will set the overarching fraud strategy, lead and develop the team, and make crucial decisions regarding partner selection, risk modeling, and policy implementation. You will be the go-to expert for stakeholders seeking insights into our exposure and mitigation strategies, providing evidence-based solutions.
Responsibilities
- Owner of the Number: You will own the fraud Profit & Loss (P&L), including payout rate, chargeback rate, approval rate, and false-positive rate. You will be accountable for explaining all fluctuations and driving positive trends.
- Leader of the Team: Build and develop a strong second line of leadership within the team, ensuring the function's continued sharpness and independence.
- The Strategy Setter: Define and own the fraud-reduction roadmap, making decisions on build vs. buy strategies, investment priorities, and the design of our multi-product fraud program.
- The Partnership Principal: Manage commercial and strategic relationships with fraud-prevention partners, including RFPs, testing, SLAs, and negotiations.
- The Cross-functional Bridge: Serve as the operational partner to Product, Engineering, Finance, and Legal, ensuring fraud risk is integrated into new product development from the outset.
- The Compliance Anchor: Own our risk-side regulatory and compliance obligations, including PSP requirements, KYC, and law enforcement requests, ensuring defensibility as we scale globally.
- The Final Word on Risk: Act as the top escalation point for complex risk decisions and represent the Risk & Fraud team in leadership forums with data-driven insights and a clear point of view.
Requirements
- A Proven Track Record: Minimum of 4+ years of experience in fraud, risk, or financial crime within a fast-paced or high-growth environment, with prior team leadership experience. You must have owned fraud outcomes end-to-end.
- An Owner of Outcomes: Demonstrated success in measurably reducing fraud rates, chargeback rates, or approval rates through structural changes, understanding the associated trade-offs.
- A Commercial Operator: Proven experience in partner selection, negotiation, budget management, and holding partners accountable to performance metrics.
- A Data Native: Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose root causes from data and dashboards. Comfort with SQL/Databricks environments is a strong plus.
- A Builder of Teams: Genuine satisfaction in developing leaders and creating a self-sufficient, high-performing function.
- Familiar with Our World: Experience in digital marketplaces, e-commerce, payments, or gaming is ideal, with an understanding of common fraud typologies (promo abuse, reseller fraud, account takeover) and the pace of digital businesses.
- Compliance-Fluent: Comfort operating within regulatory, PSP, and KYC obligations.
- A Strong Communicator: Excellent written and spoken English is essential for strategy setting, executive influence, and leading diverse teams.
