The Opportunity

Within Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we are at the forefront of advancing the treatment of heart disease, particularly atrial fibrillation, with breakthrough medical technologies. This role is crucial in empowering individuals to restore their health and regain their lives.

What You'll Work On

You will be responsible for the sales of EP products within a defined geographical district, developing and executing sales plans to meet targets and budgets aligned with the broader regional and business unit strategy. This leadership role involves direct management of the EP sales force, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, and driving continuous process improvement to meet internal and external customer requirements. You will exercise judgment in planning, organizing, and monitoring work, reporting performance status, and utilizing best business practices for success.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth operational practices within the district, meeting budget and sales goals, and adhering to marketing campaigns.
  • Create and manage district budgets, reporting to senior management.
  • Support sales representatives and key account managers in managing client relationships and negotiating contracts.
  • Build district sales capability and lead/motivate the sales team.
  • Hire and retain diverse, qualified staff, providing career coaching, growth, and development.
  • Critique, instruct, mentor, evaluate, and coach staff, holding accountability for their performance.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and a strong customer focus.
  • Prepare regional sales forecasts and contribute to market potential assessments and sales expense estimations.
  • Plan and manage the EP sales effort for the assigned region.
  • Maintain contact with major accounts, assisting sales representatives with relationship management, negotiation, and closing deals.
  • Participate in developing marketing policy, recommending product/line revisions, and pricing changes.
  • Assist sales support/marketing staff with sales promotion, training, and market research projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent.
  • Typically 8+ years of progressive work experience in Tachycardia/Bradycardia product areas or a related discipline, including direct experience in CRM/EP product sales.
  • Highly developed leadership skills and experience sufficient for management responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in delegation, follow-up, and team building.
  • Direct knowledge of physicians in the CRM/EP medical market.
  • Seasoned judgment acquired through organizational experience and achievements applying state-of-the-art sales principles.
  • Documented record of delivering sales information that adds value to management decisions.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to perform intermediate arithmetic calculations (ratios, rates, percentages), draw and interpret graphs, apply rational systems to solve problems, handle variables in non-standardized situations, and interpret instructions.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of common personal computer programs (e.g., email, Microsoft Office, graphics software).
  • Verification of satisfying all vendor credentialing requirements (e.g., COVID-19 vaccination), with accommodation exploration available.
