Position Summary

Primarily serve as the Bank’s first point-of-contact with customers visiting a Banking Center. This role is responsible for accurately processing retail and commercial financial transactions, providing basic account information, and assisting customers with product selection or referring them to specialists. The position demands exemplary customer service and a proactive approach to meeting customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process retail and commercial financial transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, check cashing).
  • Provide basic account information (balances, due dates, recent activity).
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Bank’s products and services to assist customers and make recommendations.
  • Proactively generate referrals for consumer and small-business deposit accounts and small-business loans.
  • Actively participate in sales, marketing, and promotional campaigns.
  • Address customer inquiries and refer complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist customers with safety deposit box access as needed.
  • Represent the Bank positively to customers, potential customers, and co-workers.
  • Contribute to achieving Banking Center sales and service goals.
  • Handle incoming calls, answer questions, and route callers appropriately.
  • Process mail and overnight depository transactions.
  • Record all transactions promptly, accurately, and in compliance with Bank policies.
  • Maintain an adequate and balanced cash drawer according to Bank policy.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, verifying, and distributing cash.
  • Balance and replenish cash in the ATM and Banking Center vault as directed.
  • Track information and prepare basic reports as directed.
  • Perform routine daily Banking Center activities, including vault balancing and end-of-day tasks.
  • Responsible for opening and/or closing the Banking Center.
  • Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies.
  • Participate in other activities as directed.
  • Successfully pass required technical and regulatory examinations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in banking, insurance, retail services, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Thoroughness and strict attention to detail.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Competence with computers and office machinery.
  • Proficient alpha/numeric data entry skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Ability to make sound, on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions, balancing customer satisfaction with Bank policies.
  • Ability to relate to individuals at all levels and maintain goodwill and public image.

Physical Demands and Conditions

  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods.
  • Some travel required.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Consistent operation of computers and office equipment.
  • Climate-controlled office setting with moderate noise.
  • Ability to work unpredictable hours, including Saturdays.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas with others.
