Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify's product across all platforms. This critical role is ideal for engineers who thrive at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possess strategic thinking skills, and are passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and user-centric systems.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with Speechify's Product Teams to define project scopes, identify opportunities for faster customer feedback through scope reduction, and navigate product team integration/UX trade-offs, delivering solutions via our cross-platform SDK.
- Optimize existing functionality for improved performance, such as faster loading and more intelligent parsing, by designing efficient abstractions and enhancing algorithms.
- Develop and deploy cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
An Ideal Candidate Should Have
- Systems Thinking: Ability to design end-to-end systems and a belief in the value of simplicity.
- Speed: Aptitude for quickly generating ideas and options, with the ability to prioritize what can ship now versus what needs more time.
- Focus: Capacity to work effectively in a high-growth, busy, remote startup environment, knowing when to engage and when to focus.
- Collaboration: Skill in inspiring, playing, and negotiating with designers, marketers, and PMs.
- Preferred Tech Stack:
- Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable, but the role emphasizes Kotlin Multiplatform).
- Prior experience with GCP is a plus.

Compensation
- Germany Based Salary Range: 30,000-120,000 USD/Year + Bonus + Stock, depending on experience.
