About the Department

Cloudflare's Engineering Team builds and operates the software that handles massive amounts of Internet traffic, as well as the internal tools and platforms that support it. Individual teams operate with considerable autonomy, delivering value to both internal and external customers.

About the Team and Role

The Engineering Platform and Productivity team is chartered with building a self-service, resilient, and scalable platform using open-source projects, proprietary technology, and internal infrastructure. We build tools and services that help integrate core capabilities into Cloudflare's products, serving hundreds of engineers and handling high volumes of requests daily. This role combines software engineering and DevOps operational responsibilities, with a strong focus on Agentic Engineering – building tools for internal engineers to leverage modern AI agents, models, and practices.

What You'll Do

• Design and build developer productivity tooling, including MCP servers and agents.
• Drive initiatives that enhance engineer happiness and productivity.
• Respond to and prevent incidents impacting core platforms.
• Harden the platform against security threats and resource contention issues.
• Improve our GitOps systems and practices.
• Collaborate with application teams to guide architectural decisions and system design.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Ability to work with codebases in Bash, TypeScript, and Go.
• Excellent debugging skills.
• Source control experience, including branching, merging, and rebasing.
• The ability to break down complex problems, provide options, discuss trade-offs, and drive solutions.

Bonus Points

• Experience providing guidance and building platforms across multiple zones and regions to support distributed, highly-available applications.
• Previous experience in a platform engineering or engineering productivity team.
