Python Developer (Contract, Remote)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Python Developer to contribute to the training of next-generation AI systems. Your expertise will be crucial in influencing how AI models learn, reason, and perform through the provision of high-quality, real-world input. Prior experience in AI is not required; your existing domain knowledge is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs.
• Implement robust data validation, error handling, and security best practices within backend services.
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance optimizations, and schema changes.
• Actively test new AI-powered models within the Cursor environment, providing detailed feedback through incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots.
• Participate in intensive 4-day testing bursts to evaluate the impact of AI models on real coding workflows.
• Engage constructively with the research team in a dedicated Slack channel to discuss findings and propose enhancements.
• Submit comprehensive post-burst surveys to deliver insights on model performance and the overall developer experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a backend developer, with strong Python expertise.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining both RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Advanced understanding of backend data validation, error handling, and API security principles.
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Extensive use of AI tools for coding; familiarity with Cursor is highly desirable.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability for clear incident and bug reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to excel in fast-paced, confidential, and collaborative remote environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Visible contributions to open-source projects (e.g., significant GitHub stars or contributions).
• Experience in designing or evaluating experimental tooling and developer workflows.
