About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Engineering Manager to lead the Geo for Self-Managed Customers team. This team owns the Geo product end-to-end, providing tenant-to-tenant replication essential for disaster recovery strategies. You will guide the team in building and operating large-scale distributed systems, ensuring reliability, correctness, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the roadmap and execution for the Geo product, in close partnership with the Product Manager.
  • Hire and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering an environment where members can thrive.
  • Own the reliability, correctness, and performance of Geo replication, the core layer for disaster recovery.
  • Deliver bug fixes, API extensions, and new capabilities to the Geo codebase.
  • Build and maintain runbooks, guardrails, and reviews for rigorous team operations.
  • Ensure high-quality, timely responses to Geo-related escalations.
  • Define, track, and report on delivery and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the Incident Management on-call rotation to ensure availability goals are met.

  • Proven track record building and owning large-scale distributed services, with the technical depth to guide technical strategy.
  • Experience driving operational excellence and managing services with high SLOs (e.g., 99.99%).
  • Experience leveraging AI tooling to boost team productivity, with lessons learned.
  • A history of building and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures.
  • Comfort driving complex projects to completion independently.
  • Experience leading distributed and remote teams effectively.
