About the Role
As the Vice President, Head of Clinical Operations, you will spearhead clinical operations strategy and execution across Recursion's entire development portfolio. This leadership role is pivotal in shaping modern clinical operations within an AI-native environment, emphasizing data-driven approaches, quality, patient-centricity, and technological enablement.
What You'll Do
- Lead clinical operations strategy and execution from IND/CTA planning through study closeout, data delivery, inspection readiness, and registrational support.
- Own end-to-end operational delivery, including study planning, feasibility, country/site strategy, start-up, enrollment, monitoring, vendor oversight, budget management, and database lock readiness.
- Build, scale, and mentor a high-performing Clinical Operations organization.
- Establish portfolio-level governance, operating rhythms, KPIs, risk management, and resource planning.
- Lead CRO and vendor strategy, including outsourcing models, selection, performance management, and accountability.
- Ensure inspection-ready execution across all studies through robust GCP compliance, SOP adherence, TMF oversight, and risk-based quality management.
The Team You'll Join
You will report to the Chief Medical Officer and join Recursion's Clinical Development organization. You will collaborate closely with leaders across Development, Regulatory, Data Science, Biology, Chemistry, and other key functions to ensure our clinical programs are informed by robust evidence and patient needs.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific, healthcare, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical clinical operations, with significant leadership experience managing multiple global clinical programs.
- Proven track record leading clinical operations from early development through pivotal studies and submission support.
- Deep experience in clinical trial planning and execution, including feasibility, start-up, enrollment, monitoring, vendor/CRO oversight, budget management, and closeout.
- Strong working knowledge of FDA, EMA, MHRA, ICH/GCP, global clinical trial regulations, and quality systems.
- Experience building and leading teams, including clinical operations leaders, project managers, and functional vendors.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive decisions.
- Experience in oncology, rare disease, and/or specialty clinical development is preferred.
- Experience with clinical trial technologies, automation, or AI-enabled workflows is a plus.
Working Location & Compensation
- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah (Office-based, hybrid - 50% in-office expectation).
- Salary Range: $303,600 - $364,100 (USD) annually, plus bonus and equity.
