We are a multidisciplinary professional services and software consultancy, ranked #1 worldwide for facility-related services by World Architecture 100. We are growing and emphasize our people.

The Opportunity:

This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who prefers field work and travel over desk work. You will be responsible for conducting facility condition assessments of electrical and low-voltage systems for various building types across the US. Projects are typically short (one to six months), with field deployments usually lasting one week and no more than two per month. Candidates with a background as a Journeyman or Master Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, or Instrumentation and Electrical Technician are encouraged to apply.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site facility assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team, evaluating building electrical systems (emergency power, photovoltaic, fire alarm, security, data communication, surveillance).
  • Work effectively with client and on-site personnel, assessing client assets at an average daily rate of 125-250k square feet.
  • Determine the condition, remaining useful life, required costs, and remedial measures for electrical and low-voltage systems.
  • Provide technical identification and description of deficiencies, from concerns to critical issues.
  • Identify recommendations for correction with sufficient technical detail for future planning and cost estimating.
  • Interview building operations and maintenance staff to gather building history, work orders, and operational information.
  • Prepare project progress documentation for review.
  • Review the work of peers and actively participate in post-project reviews.
  • May handle other responsibilities as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of related work experience.
  • Direct experience in conducting architectural facility condition assessments strongly preferred.
  • Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions strongly preferred.
  • Prior cost estimating experience is valued but not required.
  • Registration, licensure, or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; aptitude for tablet and mobile device usage.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision, Adobe Suite, and Bluebeam is valued but not required.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments.
  • Must be physically able to walk stated areas daily, climb ladders, and walk on roof surfaces.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible work schedules (hybrid model available).
  • Competitive benefits package, including generous paid time off.
  • An inclusive work environment encouraging strengths and passions.
  • Coaching for professional growth and career pathing.
  • Opportunity to work for a growing team with proven success.

Salary Range: $76,200 to $95,200 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, education, and skill level. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, flexible spending account options, voluntary insurances, paid time off, flex-time schedules, remote work options, and a 401k plan.

Important Note: Candidates can only apply through the CannonDesign Careers site. Be wary of scams. All employees must complete mandatory training and adhere to internal policies.
