AI & Automation Engineer Intern (6-Month Contract)

Malt is seeking an AI & Automation Engineer Intern to join our Data Platform team for a 6-month period starting July 2026. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Malt's AI transformation by working on key production workstreams, including our internal AI-agent platform (MaltyAI) and workflow automation.

As an intern, you will work directly with our AI & Automation Engineer, contributing to Malt's AI roadmap. You will help build n8n workflows, develop adoption dashboards, design evaluations for AI agents, and implement reliability patterns on our automation platform. You will also support the AI Academy program by creating training materials and facilitating buildathons.

Key Responsibilities ✨

  • Support the execution of Malt’s AI internal roadmap for H2 2026; contribute to building n8n workflows integrating Salesforce, Zendesk, BigQuery, and Slack.
  • Build adoption dashboards to track agent usage and iterate on Knowledge Base segmentation.
  • Contribute to designing and building evaluations for internal AI agents (accuracy, hallucination rate, knowledge base coverage).
  • Implement reliability patterns on the automation platform and document architecture patterns.
  • Support the AI Academy program by creating training materials, workflow templates, and best-practice guides.
  • Co-facilitate Buildathons and track AI Academy Builder programme KPIs.

About You πŸ§‘β€πŸš€

  • High-level education ideally in Computer Science, Data, Product Management, or a related field (BAC+4/5).
  • Comfortable writing small scripts, wiring n8n/Make/Zapier workflows, and prompting LLMs.
  • Familiarity with AI developments (LLMs, agents, RAG, evals) and hands-on experience with at least one framework (OpenAI API, LangChain, Dust, Mistral, or similar).
  • Comfortable with SQL and data analysis; ability to measure impact and KPIs.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
