Freelance Video Editor (Short-Form Content) - Forbes Advisor (Remote, UK/US-based preferred)

Forbes Advisor is looking for a Freelance Video Editor to support our growing short-form content operation on an ongoing retainer basis. We are dedicated to helping readers make informed decisions and turn aspirations into reality. This role is ideal for someone who understands how to create platform-native content with strong pacing, hooks, retention, and storytelling instincts for social-first environments.

About the Role

This position focuses on producing high-volume, short-form social content for platforms like Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and TikTok. We value consistency, responsiveness, and creative judgment over overly polished brand-style editing. Initially, this role is expected to be up to 4 days per week, with potential for flexibility. You will work directly with the Head of Creative Strategy and a team of Creative Strategists.

Start Date & Contract Structure

• Start Date: ASAP (ideally before end of June)
• Contract Structure: Ongoing freelance / retainer arrangement

Working Hours

• UK: 9am–5pm
• US: 8am–4pm (local time)

Expected Output

• Current Production Cadence: Approximately 4 batches of content per week, with each batch containing roughly 5 short-form edits (average 30 seconds each).
• Output expectations are flexible initially while workflows are established. Consistency, collaboration, and the ability to iterate quickly are prioritized over rigid edit quotas.

Responsibilities

• Edit high-volume short-form social content for Meta, TikTok, and other social platforms.
• Incorporate strong pacing, hooks, retention techniques, and storytelling for social-first environments.
• Collaborate within a dynamic, iterative workflow where creative is regularly tested and refined.
• Ensure platform-native content creation with an emphasis on UGC-style editing and social-first storytelling.
• Incorporate captions/subtitles and understand hooks and retention strategies.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of professional video editing experience.
• Strong experience editing for Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and TikTok.
• Deep understanding of hooks, retention, platform-native pacing, captions/subtitles, UGC-style editing, social-first storytelling, and creative testing workflows.
• Experience with performance marketing or direct-response creative is a plus.

Tools & Workflow

• Required: Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Nice to Have: Experience with AI-assisted creative workflows, ElevenLabs, Veo 3; experience generating AI video assets; comfort experimenting with emerging AI creative tools.

• Freelance / contractor basis.
