Summary:
KBRA Holdings, LLC and its affiliates (“KBRA”) seeks an experienced Paralegal to join our Legal Department in the New York office. You should be enthusiastic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic, and be well-equipped to collaborate with other members of the Legal Department on various matters, including contract management, technology-enabled legal operations, and process improvement initiatives.
About the Team:
The Legal Department handles all of KBRA’s legal matters, excluding ratings. We work closely with analysts, compliance, finance, technology, and senior management across the company.
About the Job:
As a Paralegal, your responsibilities may include:
- Contract Management: Maintain and improve KBRA’s contract management systems and processes. This includes tracking contract status and key terms, maintaining regulatory registers, assisting with updates to form agreements, and supporting the Legal Department in reviewing, drafting, negotiating, executing, organizing, and administering commercial agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, and other contracts.
- Legal Technology and Process Improvement: Assist the Legal Department in identifying, evaluating, and implementing new technologies and processes, such as contract management systems, document management systems, workflow tools, and GenAI-enabled tools. Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, organize information, and enhance collaboration across Legal and business teams.
- Data Privacy/Cybersecurity: Work closely with members of KBRA’s Legal and Information Security teams to manage privacy and cybersecurity inquiries, including responding to customer requests for information concerning KBRA’s compliance with various privacy laws.
- Regulatory and Compliance: Gain familiarity with the regulatory framework, laws, and regulations applicable to credit rating agencies and how they affect KBRA. Collaborate with Legal and Compliance on regulatory compliance efforts and organize documents for submission to regulators.
- Corporate Governance: Manage and organize the production and distribution of materials for board and committee meetings, maintain the online board portal, and track the completion of board documents, including meeting minutes and consents.
- Special Projects: Assist with special projects as they arise, demonstrating the ability to work on new and challenging issues.
- Organizational: Assist with organizing Legal participation in interdepartmental projects, including coordinating participation, deliverables, and input.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A Paralegal certificate and/or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant experience as a corporate paralegal, contracts paralegal, contract manager, or similar role within a law firm, in-house legal department, or professional services/financial services organization.
- Experience with contract management systems, contract administration, and/or legal review processes, including reviewing, drafting, negotiating, organizing, tracking, and maintaining agreements and related records.
- Action and results-oriented with good judgment in a fast-paced, high-growth, dynamic environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Comfort using technology to improve legal department workflows, including contract management systems, document management systems, collaboration tools, and emerging technologies like GenAI.
- An interest in identifying process improvements and developing practical, scalable solutions for a growing Legal Department.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential, sensitive, or business-critical information.
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and general productivity is a plus.
Salary Range:
$100,000 - $140,000 annually.
(Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.)
