Recognized by Fast Company, TIME, and others for innovation, we are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in our data strategy.

About the Role

This high-impact individual contributor role involves shared ownership of analytics engineering and offers the opportunity to expand your influence across the entire data stack. You will join a team focused on enhancing our transformation and visualization layers, leading efforts on the data platform, and defining its future direction to empower decision-makers.

About You

  • Strategic Individual Contributor: A hands-on developer with a clear vision, energized by building, optimizing, and scaling analytics capabilities.
  • Domain Fluent: Deeply understands business context, key metrics, and how to equip others with actionable data.
  • Trusted Communicator: Skilled at translating complex requirements into elegant data products for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Results-Driven: Consistently delivers clean, actionable data models and tools that enable informed decisions.
  • AI-Forward Thinker: Actively seeks opportunities to leverage generative AI and machine learning to enhance data transformation, documentation, and user-facing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Results at Scale: Create high-impact code for pipelines, visualizations, and dashboards using DBT to drive faster development and confident decision-making.
  • Lead with Expertise: Act as a senior technical expert, guiding architecture discussions and implementing robust, scalable data models.
  • Prioritize for Performance: Balance feature delivery with simple, performant, and cost-effective pipeline design.
  • Build and Maintain Layered Data: Collaborate to build a modern data warehouse, helping define its strategic architecture.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Empower Business Users: Partner with power users to foster data fluency and enable self-service reporting.
  • Champion AI & Automation: Drive the adoption of AI-assisted coding, documentation, and data exploration to streamline development and enhance self-serve capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience implementing and scaling DBT.
  • 5+ years of experience in production data modeling on cloud platforms (e.g., Databricks Delta, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Strong understanding of advanced SQL and its performance implications.
  • Familiarity with Spark or similar distributed data processing technologies.
  • Track record of building CI/CD data pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI) with strong testing and data quality standards.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI and automation tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
  • Skilled in data visualization platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI), with a preference for Omni.
  • Self-service capabilities in Git.
  • Python experience is a bonus.
  • Experience with Prefect, Dagster, Airflow, or other DAG tools is a bonus.
  • Experience with subscriptions and/or e-commerce is a bonus.
