About The Position

The KIPP Foundation is strengthening its talent systems to ensure leaders and staff thrive. The Senior Manager of People Operations & Systems plays a critical role in this by ensuring compensation, benefits, policies, and employee experience processes are executed with clarity, consistency, and care. This role is responsible for the accurate and consistent implementation of core HR operations and Total Rewards systems, translating strategy into day-to-day execution that supports a seamless employee experience.

Responsibilities

Total Rewards Execution

  • Lead the execution of compensation, benefits, and retirement programs, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent delivery.
  • Administer compensation processes, including salary adjustments, stipends, and compensation cycles.
  • Oversee benefits operations and negotiate renewals in partnership with leadership, ensuring a high-quality employee experience and effective vendor coordination.

HR Policies, Procedures & Compliance

  • Execute HR policies, procedures, and operational protocols, ensuring consistent and compliant application.
  • Ensure all employees receive required annual trainings based on organizational law.
  • Maintain and update HR documentation, ensuring policies are clear, accessible, and aligned to legal and organizational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Identify policy and process gaps and recommend improvements.

HR Operations

  • Own the execution of HR operational processes, including role changes, employee transitions, and offboarding.
  • Ensure a consistent and high-quality employee experience through reliable HR processes.
  • Partner with Development & Growth to support performance management and employee experience systems.
  • Partner with the Manager of People Operations to ensure policies reflect payroll and vendor changes.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of People Operations to draft and approve the annual org holiday calendar.

HR Systems, Data & Reporting

  • Administer HR systems (HRIS, benefits platforms), ensuring data accuracy, functionality, and alignment.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure accurate employee records and reporting.
  • Develop and manage dashboards and reports tracking key HR operational and Total Rewards metrics.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance, data accuracy, and process consistency.

Operational Execution & Continuous Improvement

  • Own the execution of People Operations workflows, ensuring high-quality, timely, and consistent delivery of services.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce friction, and improve clarity.
  • Partner with leadership to translate strategy into operational plans and ensure effective implementation.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in talent operations, compensation, benefits, and HR policies.
  • HR expertise and knowledge of employment laws across multiple geographic territories.
  • Track record of delivering excellent customer service while managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Excitement for an innovative and agile environment focused on continuous learning.
  • Drive to make decisions through passion for impact, thoughtful analysis, and a lens on equity.
  • Experience using HR systems (ADP, Workday, ATS, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Aptitude in Analytics, Data, and Strategy.

Additional Information

  • Work Conditions: Minimal Travel (up to 5%, ~10 days/year). Full, exempt role.
  • Location: Preferred to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office (NYC, Chicago), but remote option is available.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Salary range: $104,000 - $123,500. Benefits include 25 holidays + 18 flexible PTO days (increasing with tenure), 100% paid parental leave, 100% employee medical/dental/vision premium coverage (75% for family), wellness benefits, 401K with 4% match, employer-sponsored legal plans, life/disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts.
