Mural

Senior Software Engineer, Integrated Workflows

Muralā€¢šŸ“ Argentina•Estimated: $80,000 - $120,000

✨ AI Insights & Summary

This Senior Software Engineer role at Mural's Integrated Workflows team presents an exciting challenge for an engineer passionate about connecting powerful collaboration tools to the broader enterprise ecosystem. You'll be instrumental in designing and building robust, secure integrations that transform how teams operate, moving beyond simple features to create truly indispensable workflows. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of product and platform, leveraging AI tools in your daily workflow, and making a tangible impact on customer productivity within a dynamic, growth-focused environment.

About the Team: Integrated Workflows

The Integrated Workflows team exists to expand Mural's value by embedding it seamlessly into the essential business workflows our customers already live in. We connect Mural to the tools that teams rely on every day, from the systems of record where work gets tracked to the places conversations happen and the surfaces content moves through.

Integrations unlock a new level of functionality: when Mural can reach the work happening everywhere else, a canvas stops being a snapshot of one meeting and becomes a live surface for how a team operates. This means real context is pulled in, real decisions are pushed back out, eliminating the need to retype status updates or hunt for current versions. A workshop no longer ends at a wall of sticky notes but culminates in tracked, owned, and moving work. This is when collaboration becomes genuinely effective, and building towards this vision is the core of everything we do.

Underneath it all, we build the integration platform: the shared frameworks, services, and patterns that enable any team at Mural to ship a connected experience without starting from scratch. Our mission is to make Mural a natural part of daily work. We measure success by how indispensable Mural becomes inside real customer workflows, not merely by the number of integrations we ship.

Your Mission (About the Role)

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Integrated Workflows team, you will own significant parts of how Mural connects to the outside world. You'll design and build integrations that are reliable, secure, and genuinely used, and you'll transform one-off connector work into robust integration platform capabilities that the rest of the company can build upon.

This role sits at the intersection of product and platform. You'll work directly against third-party APIs and SDKs, navigating the inherent ambiguities of shifting contracts, rate limits, authentication models, and partner review processes. Simultaneously, you'll ensure our own abstractions remain clean and our public API stable for the developers who depend on it.

Senior Engineers at Mural lead, design, and implement complex technical projects, contribute to team and company-wide processes and culture, and provide mentorship and support for early-career colleagues.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Build and evolve two-way sync with the systems of record where customer work lives (Jira, Linear, Asana, and others), ensuring decisions made on the canvas become tracked work and stay in sync as that work changes.
  • Design, build, and maintain integrations across the Microsoft ecosystem (Teams, Outlook, Office), video conferencing platforms, and third-party notification targets such as Slack and Teams.
  • Build and evolve the integration platform: the shared frameworks, services, and patterns other Mural teams use to ship their own connected experiences.
  • Own the content pathways in and out of Mural, including the import and image panels, third-party image APIs such as Unsplash, copy/paste to and from outside Mural, file upload handling, iFrame embedding, self-serve PDF to Mural conversion, and Mural exports and downloads.
  • Partner across teams on shared boundaries and uphold your side of those contracts, including render for exports, the notification engine, and company-level migration.
  • Maintain and support our public API for existing third-party developers, with the backwards-compatibility discipline a published interface demands.
  • Lead projects end to end, from research, design, and Proof of Concept (POC) through execution, release, and iteration.
  • Build flexible and maintainable solutions while being accountable for quality, performance, reliability, and the security posture of everything crossing our system boundary.
  • Use AI tools as part of your fundamental workflows.
  • Design, plan, and implement automated testing and documentation strategies, including for the failure modes that only show up when someone else's API misbehaves.
  • Elevate the team's skills and knowledge by participating in technical designs and talks, and by reviewing and helping improve your and your colleagues' code.
  • Contribute to constantly improving the team's processes and best practices.

What You'll Bring (Requirements)

  • Fluency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with technologies such as React, Node.js, or other modern frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience integrating with third-party APIs and platforms: OAuth and token lifecycle management, webhooks, rate limiting and backoff, pagination, versioning, and graceful degradation when an upstream service fails.
  • 5+ years building and shipping large-scale production software as part of an agile engineering team.
  • Strong track record of designing and delivering scalable, high-performance systems.
  • An outcome-oriented and highly-experimental interest in AI-driven development practices.
  • Proven experience planning technical projects and delivering new systems and features iteratively, with a focus on delivering value to customers quickly.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to lead technical discussions and navigate trade-offs effectively.
  • Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments or startups is a plus.

Desired Skills & Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Experience building against Microsoft Teams or Office add-in SDKs, or shipping through a partner marketplace or app review process.
  • Experience designing and maintaining a public developer API.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Familiarity with secure file handling at scale, including permissions checks, malware scanning, and content validation on upload.
  • Experience with content migration or format conversion between products, and the fidelity problems that come with it.
