Junior Data Engineer (m/f/d) - Build the Future of Real Estate Data

Your Mission

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of our production data, from extraction and transformation using sophisticated algorithms to deployment. You'll collaborate closely with the product team to understand their needs and deliver high-quality data. Your primary focus will be on automating processes and enhancing efficiency, crucial for handling hundreds of terabytes of data daily.

Responsibilities

• Expand our Data Universe: Research and evaluate new data sources, and manage the entire data transformation process from download to production-ready formats.
• Gain Insights from Complex Data: Go beyond standard SQL, working with rich, multi-dimensional datasets like 3D building models and LiDAR point clouds, transforming raw geometry into actionable insights.
• Build Self-Operating Pipelines: Automate data flows using Airflow, Dataform, and Python, reducing manual effort and increasing platform reliability.
• Ensure Data Quality: Monitor pipelines, identify errors, and implement data checks to guarantee the highest data quality.
• Scale Efficiently on Google Cloud: Design and optimize pipelines for processing hundreds of terabytes while managing infrastructure costs.
• Develop AI-Native: Utilize modern AI coding tools like Claude Code and Copilot, and proactively identify new AI use cases in data engineering.

Your Profile

• Education: Successful Master's degree in a technical field (e.g., Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Business Informatics).
• Experience: Ideally, gained initial professional experience through internships, working student roles, or project work in the aforementioned areas.
• Tech Stack: Practical experience with Python, SQL, and Git. Bonus points for experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud providers (especially Google Cloud).
• Language: Fluent in English and German (C1 level). English is our primary internal communication language, but we also process German data and communicate with German authorities.
• Passion for Data: You value quality, enjoy diving into unknown datasets, and are excited about discovering new sources.
• Reliable Execution: You meet deadlines and take ownership of results. You communicate proactively with a plan B if issues arise.
• Domain Interest: High motivation to learn and immerse yourself in the complex PropTech sector. Prior experience is a plus.
• Strong Learning Agility: Driven to grow quickly, make a real impact in a fast-paced startup, and stay at the forefront of technology, especially in cloud technologies and AI.
