About the Role
CGS is seeking a motivated Senior Accounting Technician to support the mission of a large federal agency. This full-time, mid-level position within the Finance Department involves comprehensive duties including accounts payable management, reimbursement activity, collections, and account oversight. The role offers a competitive salary range of $87,360 - $126,186.67 annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Adjust payroll/labor transactions via re-organization processing.
- Correct and process federal government travel in accordance with policies and regulations.
- Verify, analyze, and maintain financial information for the DOJ Office of the Comptroller.
- Utilize various electronic software and databases (UFMS, JEDI, JEDI-2, SAFARI, E-2, SAMS.gov) for complex data analysis.
- Record and retrieve financial data, particularly related to reimbursable and billing processes, using various software and databases.
- Track expenditures of multiple accounts using a financial management system.
- Generate and reconcile financial reports weekly.
- Prepare financial reports and documentation for review by DOJ Office of the Comptroller Management and other U.S. Government agencies.
- Provide support to other DOJ sections in UFMS transaction processing and assist with system error resolutions.
- Compose memorandums, reference financial reports, and draft letters to vendors and agencies.
- Prepare forms, financial documents, manage databases, maintain files, route paperwork, schedule web conferences, and assist with meeting preparations.
- Undertake other duties for regular or special projects as assigned or on own initiative.
- Contribute to team efforts as needed.
Qualifications
- A two-year degree in accounting or a four-year degree in a related field (finance, business, banking, or economics) with at least 30 credit hours in accounting.
- Knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems used by financial institutions.
- Experience with commitments, obligations, and interagency reimbursement agreements.
- Experience with quarterly review, accrual, and closeout processes.
- Ability to provide analysis and technical support for financial activities.
- Ability to identify and analyze changes in budgetary and/or financial activities.
- Ability to research and analyze financial data.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Ideally, You Will Also Have:
- Proficiency in UFSM, JEDI, SAFARI, E-2, and Excel (including advanced functions like VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and various formulas).
- Experience with Budgeting Cycle Management.
