The Lifecycle Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions, manages employee exits for Remote's external employees, focusing on legal compliance and delivering exceptional customer service. You will also provide first-level Employee Relations support, guiding clients through workplace concerns and coordinating necessary resources. As part of the broader Employee Lifecycle team, you will contribute to process improvements and strategic initiatives aligned with Remote's values.

What You Bring

  • Experience as a HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies and a strong understanding of the employee lifecycle.
  • Proven experience managing voluntary and involuntary exits (terminations) with sensitivity, care, and legal compliance.
  • Comprehensive HR support and guidance on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Ability to interpret industrial instruments, analyze complex HR issues, conduct research, provide practical solutions, and communicate recommendations effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Basic understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead difficult conversations to positive outcomes while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Business-level (advanced) proficiency in written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Aptitude and appetite for innovation and process optimization, including identifying opportunities for automation and championing best practices.
  • Efficiency in operations, with a focus on thorough record-keeping and data integrity.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to collaborate asynchronously using various tools and adapt to new systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced, asynchronous, remote international team environment with multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Proactive, self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Offboarding

  • Manage and resolve end-to-end employee exits (offboardings) across multiple international jurisdictions (AMER, EMEA, APAC), prioritizing a superior offboarding experience.
  • Provide sound guidance and manage client requests on termination, resignation, transfer procedures, employment contracts, and redundancy processes, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with clients and employees regarding workforce reduction, administrative hearings, negotiations, and termination outcomes.
  • Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations, balancing multiple stakeholders with competing interests.
  • Liaise with and coordinate internal and external stakeholders (payroll, legal, government bodies, trade unions) to ensure compliance in offboarding activities and audits.
  • Draft, tailor, and administer termination and supplementary documents accurately, ensuring employee records are maintained with strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Process offboardings on Remote's internal HRIS platform, collaborating with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time & Attendance teams.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and respond to internal and external queries on offboarding matters.
  • Navigate clients through Remote's Employee Relations resources and guides.

Employee Relations

  • Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns, identifying key facts and applicable local regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for appropriate handling of employee relations matters.
  • Support clients in understanding progressive disciplinary approaches and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor ongoing employee relations cases, ensuring timely follow-up and coordination.
  • Actively identify and contribute to process improvements, automation, product development, and overall customer/employee experience enhancements.

Annual Salary Range: $37,250—$83,800 USD
