About the Role

As a Relationship Banker, you will be the go-to expert for consumer and small business lending within our bank branch. Your primary focus will be on consulting with customers to understand and meet their financial needs, fostering strong, long-term relationships. You will also play a key role in preventing fraud, mitigating risk, and actively referring customers to internal and external partners for additional opportunities. This position involves leadership, coaching, and contributing to the overall success of the branch.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with consumer and small business customers to identify, understand, and prioritize their financial needs.
  • Champion customer financial success by recommending product solutions and engaging appropriate partners.
  • Assist the Retail Market Manager (RMM) in managing branch operations, profitability, sales, customer experience, and team development.
  • Train, coach, and develop branch team members in sales management, customer service, and policy compliance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a quality, diversified loan portfolio, including consumer, small business, and real estate loans.
  • Proactively pursue new business, identify and deepen current customer relationships, and develop prospective clients and centers of influence.
  • Collaborate with business partners such as private wealth, financial planning, and commercial banking to develop comprehensive banking relationships.
  • Maintain a consistent deposit and loan pipeline and develop referral sources.
  • Meet or exceed individual performance goals for sales, referrals, and activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community-based organizations.
  • Participate in daily activities, sales meetings, and training sessions, championing products and sharing sales tips.
  • Perform proactive customer outreach during sales campaigns and promotions.
  • Open and service accounts, interview loan applicants, and may process and close loans.
  • Ensure operational tasks are completed accurately and efficiently, with minimal exceptions.
  • Assist with ensuring the operational integrity of the branch, monitoring team compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Protect branch assets through effective credit quality management and loss minimization.
  • Follow ethical practices and comply with all communications and directives.
  • Model the company's culture and values, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Complete assigned training for leadership and coaching development.
  • Manage the coaching, development, and performance of team members.
  • Communicate key information regarding policy, product, and service changes.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, punctuality, and behavior.
  • Manage the annual performance management and merit processes.
  • Work closely with Human Resources on employee relations, compensation, training, and staffing.
  • Maintain awareness of risk within the functional area and report any known or suspected violations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

  • Four years of successful sales or customer service experience with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding defined goals and accountabilities, and experience/proficiency in consumer loan processing.
  • OR three years of job-specific experience in a Relationship Banker role with experience/proficiency in consumer loan processing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of bank services and products.
  • Aptitude for consultative selling.
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and deepen customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong listening skills and a positive communicator.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products.
