Team Overview

The Engagement Modeling Team focuses on developing machine learning models to enhance user engagement with diverse media and content. This role specifically targets predictive modeling to improve click-through and video view-through rates, with a significant opportunity to shape and scale Reddit's Ads prediction models.

About the Role

This position is designed for a leader with deep machine learning expertise, strategic vision, and strong collaborative skills, capable of engaging with both technical and cross-functional stakeholders. The role is remote-friendly and open to candidates across the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Set Technical Vision and Strategy: Define and execute a roadmap for engagement modeling, balancing innovative approaches with business objectives.
• Drive Technical Execution: Oversee the end-to-end model development lifecycle, ensuring high standards of ML performance and robustness.
• Lead and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Recruit, mentor, and retain top ML talent, fostering a culture of growth and technical excellence.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other engineering teams to align on engagement strategies, data requirements, and model KPIs.
• Innovate in ML Architecture: Implement and optimize model architectures for engagement prediction using deep learning and advanced ML techniques.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will lead a diverse, high-impact team and foster collaboration across Product Management, Data Science, and Engineering within the Ads division. Key attributes include:

• People Management Experience: Proven experience managing engineering teams with a focus on technical mentorship and team growth.
• Technical Vision & Strategy: Ability to plan and execute a long-term technical strategy aligned with business goals.
• Technical Execution: Oversight of the ML model development lifecycle from ideation to deployment.
• Team Leadership: Expertise in recruiting, mentoring, and retaining ML talent.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong partnership skills with various teams.
• ML Architecture Innovation: Experience implementing and optimizing advanced ML architectures.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performing machine learning teams, preferably in the Ads domain (tech lead experience considered).
• Deep hands-on experience with machine learning models and deploying them in large-scale production systems.
• Proven ability in training, evaluating, and deploying large-scale models (end-to-end ML lifecycle).
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and communicate a clear technical strategy supporting company objectives.
• Impact-Driven Mindset: Passion for developing scalable, responsible AI solutions that drive business value.
• Exceptional Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex technical topics effectively.

Compensation Transparency

• Base Salary Range: $230,000—$322,000 USD.
• Eligibility for restricted stock units (RSUs) and potential commission.
