Senior Product Designer - CodePath

About CodePath

CodePath is an AI-native organization dedicated to building pathways into tech for the next generation of engineers, CTOs, and founders. We deliver industry-vetted technical courses and programs to learners across the country. Operating with the pace and ownership culture of a technical startup, our team utilizes AI as a core part of how we work, partnering with pioneers like Anthropic. With a proven track record of empowering over 40,000 learners and alumni who now work at leading companies like Amazon, Google, and Meta, we are actively reshaping the landscape of tech leadership.

About the Role

  • Location: Remote (United States, Europe, Canada, or LATAM)
  • Role Type: Full-Time
  • Reporting to: VP of Engineering
  • Compensation: $148,000 to $190,000 per year for US-based applicants. Adjusted contingent on location for applicants based in Canada, LATAM, and Europe.

CodePath's learning platform is the engine behind our educational programs, encompassing admissions, course delivery, grading, career coaching, and reporting. While highly effective, we recognize that limited design bandwidth is a key constraint to further innovation. We are seeking our first Senior Product Designer to take ownership of the platform's end-to-end user experience. This individual contributor role involves defining the structure of user flows, navigation, and the overall feel of interactions, alongside building and maintaining the design system that ensures platform coherence.

You will engage directly with users, conceptualize and structure experiences, and deliver detailed specifications for engineers. A UI design contractor will be available to support execution, with you setting the strategic direction.

Potential Projects

  • Designing the Learner Hub, a core component of our Career Mobility OS, featuring personalized career roadmaps, skills tracking, and employer-connected pathways.
  • Building and owning CodePath's inaugural design system, including interaction patterns and reusable components.
  • Redesigning fundamental platform areas such as accounts, onboarding, and navigation, which currently lack dedicated product ownership.
  • Crafting intuitive interfaces for AI-powered learning tools, including tutoring, coaching, and grading functionalities.

Key Activities

  • Design comprehensive user flows, navigation systems, and information architecture across the platform, documented through wireframes and engineer-ready specifications.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of CodePath's design system, establishing interaction patterns, components, and consistency standards.
  • Conduct lightweight product discovery by engaging with students, staff, and internal stakeholders to identify needs, particularly for platform areas and internal tools.
  • Collaborate with product managers to translate prioritized initiatives into build-ready designs and work closely with engineers to address design-related questions during development.
  • Direct and guide a UI design contractor to extend design output.
  • Establish and uphold high standards for product experience quality.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience designing end-to-end web products, with a portfolio showcasing your expertise in user flows, structure, and design process.
  • Exceptional information architecture and interaction design skills, with the ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear flows, navigation models, and specifications.
  • Proven experience in conducting user discovery, proactively gathering requirements from users and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in building or significantly contributing to a design system.
  • Proficiency in producing engineer-ready artifacts (wireframes, prototypes, specs) using Figma or comparable tools.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and thriving in small-team environments, with a proven ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for education and a strong desire to make a positive impact.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience designing for educational technology, marketplaces, or data-intensive products.
  • Prior experience as an early or first design hire in a team.
  • Working familiarity with how AI and LLM features influence product design.
  • Sufficient front-end knowledge (HTML, CSS, Tailwind) to facilitate close collaboration with engineers and assess feasibility.

Compensation

CodePath offers standardized salaries based on position level, irrespective of location. For this role, the annual salary ranges from $148,000 to $190,000 for US-based applicants. Compensation will be adjusted based on location for candidates in Canada, LATAM, and Europe. Salary is determined by relevant experience and skills assessed during the interview process.
