About the Role
You will join our Water & Environment Switzerland unit, managed by Thomas Morgenthaler, which currently comprises about 90 employees. To support further growth and strengthen our activities in protecting the aquatic environment, we are building a solid team in Poland. The primary focus will be on projects related to the design of wastewater treatment plants, mainly in Switzerland and adjacent European countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design of civil work structures, including tanks, basins, pumping stations, and service buildings for domestic wastewater treatment plants, predominantly using reinforced concrete.
- Perform basic sizing as provided by process engineers, followed by detailed design work and information gathering from machinery, electromechanical equipment, HVAC, and EMCR systems to ensure the facility aligns with process requirements and industry standards (e.g., German DWA).
- Manage the design process through various stages according to Swiss SIA and/or German HOAI, including project basis, feasibility studies, pre-design, basic engineering design, authority approval, submission and proposal phases, and detailed design.
- Design civil works structures utilizing BIM methodology in collaboration with BIM modelers.
- Participate in internal and external meetings and video conferences.
- Provide regular reports to Project Managers.
Qualifications
Must have:
- 3-5 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Strong team player with an interest in multidisciplinary work and a willingness to acquire basic knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Good English language skills (B2-C1 level).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Solid knowledge of BIM Methodology (openBIM) and collaboration platforms (e.g., BIMCollab).
- Proficient in structural engineering calculation software (e.g., SOFiSTiK, TEKLA; ALLPLAN).
Good to have:
- Experience in structural engineering for wastewater treatment plants or similar.
- Basic to good German language skills.
- Very good English language skills (C1-C2 level).
- Knowledge of German HOAI and/or Swiss SIA standards and EURO Codes.
- Autodesk REVIT and BIMCollab skills.
- Experience with BIM2Field Methodology.
- Prior experience in plant engineering for complex industrial plants (e.g., wastewater treatment), with a basic understanding of mechanical, biological, tertiary chemical, and sludge treatment processes.
