The Project: Financial Services Modernization

Join a distributed team working on a project within the financial industry, focused on modernizing and scaling digital platforms for a market-leading nutritional client. You will help deliver secure, reliable, and high-quality financial services experiences by developing new technologies to solve real business problems. We seek proactive individuals with strong communication skills and a keen attention to detail, experienced in building software from scratch.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with business users, vendors, and stakeholders to define solutions based on functional and non-functional requirements.
• Develop and maintain business requirements, design documents, and project documentation.
• Lead the design and implementation of new components and functionality.
• Manage key project tasks and initiatives, providing timely status updates.
• Liaise with testing teams and stakeholders to ensure thorough testing, including automated test script creation and execution.
• Evaluate new technologies and third-party solutions.
• Develop integrations with third-party solutions by liaising with vendors.
• Design and develop robust, secure, and maintainable technical solutions aligned with best practices.
• Create technical documentation, including design documents, guidelines, and standards.
• Contribute to department standards and guidelines.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior team members.
• Contribute to overall department goals and objectives.

What You Will Bring

• 8+ years of professional backend engineering experience with Java/J2EE and related JVM technologies.
• Strong hands-on expertise with the Spring ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring Integration).
• Proven experience designing technical solutions from business requirements, including making pragmatic architecture decisions.
• Solid track record in building and maintaining microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of HTTP protocols and designing/consuming REST APIs.
• Experience implementing web application security best practices (secure coding, authN/authZ, OWASP awareness).
• Strong SQL and RDBMS skills with Oracle/MySQL (or equivalent).
• Proficiency with Git, modern IDEs, and collaborative development workflows.
• Working knowledge of Linux environments.
• Experience working in Agile teams with shared ownership and iterative delivery.

Nice to Have

• Experience developing Single Page Applications (SPAs).
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks like AngularJS / Angular (2+) (or equivalent).
• Experience with DevOps tooling and practices (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible).
• Experience with message-queue systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Background delivering web solutions for Financial Services organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to translate high-level solutions into functional specifications and formal business requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-functional, distributed team collaboration.
