About the Role
AFRY's Transportation section is seeking a Road Planner to contribute to projects at all planning stages. You will collaborate with municipal, state, and private clients on a variety of projects, including major transportation infrastructure. The role emphasizes design-build contracts and strengthening road planning efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design 3D road models using BIM technology for urban streets, municipal access roads, county roads, and highways.
- Develop project work methodologies.
- Collaborate closely with clients, with potential for project/discipline leadership.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities.
- Design and code models (attribute data) according to current BIM manuals.
- Produce technical drawings for road alignments using AutoCAD (plan and longitudinal profiles, cross-sectional views).
- Coordinate and participate in inter-disciplinary reviews with geotechnics, water and drainage, and structures teams.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- Good English language skills.
- Relevant master’s degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in road infrastructure design.
- Technical knowledge of road and street design, including experience with various standards and governing documents.
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience with design tools such as Novapoint, C3D, or ORD.
Good to Have:
- Basic knowledge of Norwegian language.
- Past experience in the Norwegian market.
- Knowledge of Novapoint software.
- Knowledge of Microstation software.
- Experience in parametric design.
