Our Global Division Transportation & Places is expanding its Water & Environment unit in Poland to support significant growth and strengthen our commitment to protecting the aquatic environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects focused on the design of wastewater treatment plants, primarily serving Switzerland and adjacent European countries.
About the Role
You will be an integral part of our Water & Environment team in Poland, managed by Thomas Morgenthaler, contributing to a unit with approximately 90 employees in Switzerland. Your primary focus will be on the design of civil work structures for domestic wastewater treatment plants, playing a key role in building a solid team for future growth and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design civil work structures (tanks, basins, pumping stations, service buildings) for domestic wastewater treatment plants, predominantly using reinforced concrete.
- Undertake responsible design work based on process engineer specifications, integrating machinery, electromechanical equipment, and HVAC/EMCR information to meet process requirements and industry standards (e.g., German DWA).
- Execute design stages according to Swiss SIA and/or German HOAI standards, including project basis, feasibility studies, pre-design, basic engineering, authority approval, submission, proposal, and detailed design.
- Collaborate on civil works structure design using BIM methodology with BIM modelers.
- Participate in internal and external meetings and video conferences.
- Provide regular reports to the Project Manager.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
- A team player with an interest in multidisciplinary work and a willingness to learn about other technical fields (mechanical and electrical engineering).
- Good English skills (B2-C1 level).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Solid knowledge of BIM Methodology (openBIM) and collaboration platforms (e.g., BIMCollab).
- Proficient in structural engineering calculation software (e.g., SOFiSTiK, TEKLA, ALLPLAN).
Good to Have:
- Experience in structural engineering for wastewater treatment plants or similar.
- Basic to good German language skills.
- Very good English skills (C1-C2 level).
- Knowledge of German HOAI and/or Swiss SIA standards and EURO Codes.
- Autodesk REVIT and BIMCollab skills.
- Experience in BIM2Field Methodology.
- Understanding of plant engineering for complex industrial plants (e.g., wastewater treatment) and basic knowledge of mechanical, biological, tertiary chemical, and sludge treatment processes.
