Overview

Main Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a Tech Linguistic Tester to primarily proofread and edit content that has already been localized into your native language. Your core responsibility will be to meticulously identify and correct errors, including grammar, typos, syntax, punctuation, capitalization, political incorrectness, inconsistencies, and extra spacing. Occasionally, you will also translate content from English to your native language and perform UI checks for functional issues.

Responsibilities

  • Write and report relevant bugs and errors using best practices within the internal database system.
  • Demonstrate the ability to undertake and prioritize tasks and issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Utilize native language skills and cultural awareness of your native country.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Be highly organized with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) on various products by accurately following testing instructions and test cases.
  • Discover and report defects (bugs) using client-specific bug tracking tools.
  • Evaluate translations within the context of software, mobile applications, and documentation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for linguistic issues in the target language, researching and resolving linguistic questions.
  • Adhere to project-specific quality standards, trademarks, style guides, and client-preferred checklists and glossaries.
  • Troubleshoot basic problems and effectively communicate and escalate testing issues.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and to a high standard of quality.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a college or university in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Native-level or fully bilingual fluency (both spoken and written) in the required language(s).
  • Up-to-date awareness of current and common technical language usage in the target language.
  • Strong English skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to navigate networks and websites using different browsers.
  • Basic knowledge of PC hardware (desktop and laptop).
  • Basic knowledge of smartphones (iPhone or Android).
  • Familiarity with Android and iOS operating systems.
  • 3+ years of professional translation and localization experience.
  • Familiarity with native culture and trends.
  • An avid user of social media with familiarity with the Facebook Family of Apps.
  • Experience with consumer devices that provide utility functions like messaging, health, fitness, calendar, and organization.
