About the Role

We are seeking a multi-faceted Design Engineer who possesses both design and coding capabilities, with a deep understanding of cultural, design, artistic, musical, and research landscapes. This role is instrumental in shaping the future of our platform and its cultural impact.

Responsibilities

Product Roadmapping, Research & Strategy

• Explore and develop features such as web access for non-USB users, using personal USBs as network access keys, enabling artists to sell bespoke USBs with custom content, and enhancing the platform as a cloud backup system for musicians.
• Build integrations with knowledge graph platforms like are.na for seamless file accessibility.
• Contribute to product development, iteration, and the realization of innovative ideas.

Product & Web Design

• Work with our existing MacOS desktop app, iOS app, and Vue-based website (with potential migration to Next.js).
• Understand and contribute to a platform reminiscent of early peer-to-peer file-sharing systems, emphasizing silent cultural movement.

Engineering

• Develop and maintain our Electron desktop app and native iOS app.
• Contribute to our Vue website and TypeScript/PostgreSQL API.
• Utilize and integrate with tools like Retool, Typeform, and Airtable.
• Ship production-grade features with a high degree of autonomy.

Social, Posters, Campaigns & Messaging

• Develop and execute internet campaigns, posters, and messaging strategies to build culture around the network.
• Consider the platform not just for utility but as a space for cultural expression.

Time & Compensation

• Hourly compensation: $40 - $75/hr, pending seniority and ability.
• Expected commitment: 20-25 hours per week for the next 2-3 months, with potential for growth into a full-time role.
