About Wealthsimple

Wealthsimple's mission is to empower everyone to achieve financial freedom by simplifying money management through smart technology. We offer transparent, low-cost financial services, making them accessible to all. As Canada's largest fintech company, we serve over 3 million users with more than $100 billion in assets, and our growth journey is just beginning.

We seek individuals who think big, focus on details, and maintain simplicity. You'll join a high-caliber, fast-paced team that values trust, open communication, and delivering impactful client solutions. Collaboration, humility, and a commitment to quality are core to our operations.

The Growth Product Data Science Team

Our team comprises data scientists with diverse backgrounds, responsible for leading global client experience initiatives. We partner with Consolidation, Product Marketing, Lifecycle Marketing, and Product Engagement teams to deliver quantitative insights, personalization, and predictive models that fuel Wealthsimple's growth strategy.

We operate as a full-stack data science unit, managing the entire lifecycle from data modeling and dashboards to predictive models, experiment design, analysis, ad-hoc requests, and opportunity identification. We function as consultative partners, focusing on problem-solving, opportunity discovery, and strategic targeting rather than task execution. Our success is measured by the financial value generated, prioritized ideas, and the performance of our model-based solutions.

The Role

This position will primarily collaborate with the Consolidation product team, tasked with creating an exceptional first 30-day client experience and encouraging clients to make Wealthsimple their primary financial relationship. The team's work encompasses onboarding, product-led consolidation, the Home experience, Tiers, and account discovery. Your role will be pivotal in driving impact across these critical areas due to your proximity to diverse client touchpoints.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the dedicated data science partner for the Consolidation product team, owning the analytics and modeling that drive product-led growth across onboarding, activation, and full consolidation.
  • Design and analyze rigorous product experiments throughout the client journey—from initial funding to full asset consolidation—using A/B testing, non-inferiority tests, and causal inference methods to quantify the impact of product changes on key growth metrics.
  • Collaborate with Personalization DRIs to integrate machine learning models, such as next-best-account recommendations and personalized value propositions, into product flows for maximum client impact.
  • Develop deep product analytics to understand client progression through the consolidation funnel (linking external accounts, reaching initial funding milestones, adopting multiple products) and identify key opportunities to accelerate this journey.
  • Create and maintain data models and dashboards to monitor consolidation KPIs (e.g., Premium+ conversion, registrant-to-funded rates, linking rates, activation milestones), prioritizing data quality, accessibility, and efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Growth, and Lifecycle Marketing to translate analytical findings into concrete product decisions and implemented features.
  • Proactively identify and quantify growth opportunities by leveraging data insights, then collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and execute them.
  • Develop automation tools and pipelines to enhance team efficiency and scalability.
  • Contribute to the team's culture of learning and knowledge sharing, mentoring teammates and fostering collective success.
  • Embrace ownership and iterate quickly, prioritizing simplicity and applying Occam's razor to achieve product goals.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, decision science, or a similar quantitative role, including experience as the primary data scientist for a product domain or function.
  • Strong product analytics skills, with extensive experience understanding user funnels, activation metrics, and translating product usage data into actionable growth insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to partner closely with product managers and present complex analytical findings to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ownership: willingness to dive deep into product strategies, business context, and data to proactively surface insights while navigating ambiguity.
  • Deep expertise in experimental design and causal inference (A/B testing, non-inferiority tests, factorial designs, power analysis, and related methods) is core to this role.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience in data pipeline tools such as dbt and Airflow.
  • Solid understanding of data visualization and analytics engineering principles.
  • Results-driven mindset: comfortable keeping things as simple as possible to achieve product goals.
  • Ability to build and maintain multi-functional relationships across various business teams.
  • Prior experience in growth, go-to-market, or product-led growth data science is a strong plus (but not essential).
  • Experience in fintech or financial services is a plus.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching junior data scientists is a plus.

Compensation & Equity

  • Base Salary Range (Canada): CAD $151,200 - $189,000. Actual compensation depends on skills, experience, and role level. Exceptional candidates may be considered above the top of the range.
  • Total Compensation: Includes base salary and equity compensation.
