About the Role and Team

The Data Science & Analytics team at Catawiki plays a central role in driving smart, data-informed decisions across the company. With thousands of active lots daily, hundreds of thousands of bids, millions of users, and billions of events, our platform generates vast amounts of data. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist - Product Insights to collaborate with our Product teams, leveraging this data to identify user journey opportunities and measure the success of product features. You will help us make sense of our data, find actionable insights, and create self-service analytics opportunities by combining data from multiple sources.

What You’ll Do

• Own Analytics for a Broad Product Area: Take full ownership of analytics for a significant part of the platform (e.g., buyer-facing features, seller experiences, fulfillment). Build strong stakeholder relationships and proactively identify opportunities by deeply understanding user behavior.
• Turn Data into Insights and Recommendations: Define and refine key success measures, uncover trends, and translate data into clear recommendations to shape Product decisions, flag opportunities, and drive strategy. Create dashboards and reports to guide business decisions.
• Leverage Advanced Analytics: Utilize techniques such as regression analysis, causal inference, and A/B testing to analyze user behavior, identify insights, and evaluate new feature effectiveness.
• Enable Data-Driven Decision-Making at Scale: Implement self-service data solutions to empower Product teams. Contribute to foundational data projects like building scalable data pipelines, improving data accessibility, and expanding our A/B experimentation program.

Who You Are

• Experienced Data Leader: Strong quantitative background with 6+ years of experience in data science or analytics, preferably in an online company. Comfortable owning complex projects and guiding teams.
• Advanced Technical Skills: Highly proficient in SQL and experienced in data transformation using Python, R, or similar. Experience with large datasets, data pipelines, and tools like Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, dbt, or Dataform.
• Deep Statistical Expertise: Strong grasp of statistics, including regression analysis, causal inference, time series modeling, and hypothesis testing.
• Web and App Analytics: Extensive experience with tracking tools like Google Analytics (GA) and Google Tag Manager (GTM), including designing, implementing, and validating measurement strategies.
• Experimentation and Impact Analysis: Hands-on experience designing and evaluating A/B tests and other experiments using robust methodologies.
• Strategic Problem Solver: Proactively identify opportunities, define success metrics, and influence business and product strategy with data-driven recommendations.
• Strong Communicator and Mentor: Effectively translate complex data insights into clear recommendations for leadership, engineers, and product teams. Enjoy mentoring junior data scientists and fostering a data-driven culture.
• Proactive and Entrepreneurial Mindset: Take ownership, solve problems autonomously, and drive initiatives forward.

Our Offices and Way of Working

Our Amsterdam, Paris, and Lisbon offices are designed to inspire and connect. We operate on a hybrid work model, requiring 40% (2 days per week) in-office presence for collaboration, unless the role is specified as fully remote or 100% office-based.
