The Role

For a long-term digitalization program in the public sector, we are looking for an experienced (Senior) Software Engineer Java (m/f/d) with a focus on document generation, web development, and enterprise application architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance modern server-side Java applications.
• Conceptualize and implement solutions for document generation and processing.
• Develop and optimize distributed and highly available enterprise applications.
• Develop web components and web-based business applications.
• Implement technical requirements based on Java 17+, Spring Boot 3, and modern frameworks.
• Create and maintain document templates, as well as layout and design components.
• Integrate existing systems and interfaces into complex application landscapes.
• Support build, deployment, and release processes in large enterprise environments.
• Conduct tests, code reviews, and quality assurance measures.
• Create technical documentation and support architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• Completed degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification, such as a completed apprenticeship in application development with several years of professional experience.
• Several years of experience in developing Java enterprise applications with current technologies like Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x.
• Demonstrable project experience in developing server-side applications based on Java SE or Java EE.
• Solid knowledge in developing modern web applications and very good knowledge of HTML.
• Experience in developing distributed and highly available applications in complex system landscapes.
• Knowledge in document generation and template technologies, ideally with Freemarker.
• Experience in designing and preparing documents, including layout and typography requirements.
• Experience with software deployment and release processes in enterprise environments with separate responsibilities between development and operations.
• Structured, analytical, and self-reliant working style, as well as strong team and communication skills.
• Very good German language skills, both written and spoken.
