About the Role

Our client, a well-established insurance company, is looking for a Head of Commercial Property Insurance / Underwriting & Portfolio (m/f/d) to start immediately.

Responsibilities

• Strategic and operational leadership of a business unit in the commercial property insurance segment.
• Conceptual development and market-oriented positioning of the business field.
• Development of portfolio management, underwriting guidelines, and signing policies in line with corporate and divisional strategy.
• Creation of regular reports for management and derivation of well-founded decisions based on relevant key figures.
• Planning and implementation of measures for revenue and profit growth.
• Organization, coordination, and optimization of operational processes, and management of the department according to qualitative and quantitative KPIs.
• Definition and consistent implementation of the acceptance policy in the commercial property insurance sector.
• Technical support for sales in complex customer and risk situations.
• Maintenance and expansion of important major client relationships, as well as close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Driving innovation, digitalization, and transformation projects within the area of responsibility.

Qualifications

• Successfully completed studies in Business Administration with a focus on Insurance or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of professional experience in commercial or industrial property insurance.
• Profound understanding of underwriting, portfolio management, acceptance policy, and signing policies.
• Leadership experience is an advantage, alternatively convincing leadership potential and competence in dealing with change processes.
• Knowledge of project management, ideally also in scaled agile projects.
• Enthusiasm for innovation and enjoyment of digitalization and further development of existing business models.
• Distinct analytical and conceptual skills, as well as entrepreneurial thinking.
• Above-average commitment, organizational skills, and a high orientation towards implementation.
• Confident demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively involve sales, specialist departments, and management.
• Solution-oriented personality with a passion for shaping, responsibility, and demanding change processes.
