About the Role

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, part of the FTSE100 Spirax Group, is seeking a dynamic Customer & Sector Insights Lead with a focus on the Mining sector. This global, remote position involves extensive travel (50%) and is crucial for driving portfolio growth and capturing customer insights. Reporting to the Customer & Market Insights Manager, you will be instrumental in achieving the business's strategic objectives for revenue growth and margin contribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the commercial expert for the designated mining sector, enabling Sales to exceed revenue and contribution margin targets.
  • Lead initiatives to secure contracts, tenders, and RFPs.
  • Conduct global field sales work to enhance sales expertise in applications, processes, and portfolio capabilities, addressing competitive threats.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the mining sector, capturing and disseminating customer insights and application/process knowledge.
  • Design and implement go-to-market strategies tailored to sub-sectors, considering customer needs and the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Sales, Supply, and Global Engineering to integrate insights into the NPI roadmap and sales strategies.
  • Validate NPI commercial plans and facilitate successful new product commercialisation.
  • Develop solution selling capabilities within Sales to deliver market-leading Customer Value Propositions (CVPs).
  • Ensure appropriate commercial and technical support for customers through collaboration with Sales and Supply.
  • Build and maintain a network of market contacts, attending customer sites, exhibitions, and conferences.
  • Adhere to the GBD Business Development Framework.
  • Allocate approximately 50% of time to customer insight content generation and 50% to global travel.

Skills & Experience

  • BSc/BEng in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience developing and executing regional or global commercial growth strategies within the mining sector.
  • Extensive experience working with mining customers internationally, understanding diverse market dynamics and routes to market.
  • Ability to make decisions on commercial negotiations, MRP, RFQ pricing, regional discounting, contract frameworks, and group gross contribution.
  • Exceptional leadership and followership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using CRM, Power BI, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 50%.
