About the Role

This position is for a Construction Management Engineer. We are looking for individuals who want to continue building things and are motivated to solve problems encountered in the field, making construction a sustainable profession. We offer remote work and flexible hours.

What You'll Do

• Project Management: Manage the manufacturing and production of specialized construction materials for various projects including stores, commercial facilities, offices, hotels, and residences.
• Design and Drafting: Handle the design and creation of drawings for manufactured components (e.g., fixtures, fittings, structural elements).
• Drawing Review: Conduct internal reviews of drawings created by the team.
• Process Improvement: Engage in planning activities aimed at improving design processes.
• Liaise with Partners: Request and receive drawings from design partner companies.
• Client/Partner Visits: Accompany clients or partners on site visits.

Beyond just executing tasks, a key part of this role involves organizing and structuring the unique judgments and "black box" knowledge that exists on each project, transforming it into data that can be utilized.

The ultimate goal is to evolve the knowledge gained from construction and production management into business processes that can be leveraged by AI. This will enable a seamless connection between design, adjustment, manufacturing, and construction, creating a new supply chain.

Why BALLAS Was Founded

The construction industry, which has supported Japan's development for over 1400 years, is a massive industry that underpins societal infrastructure today. However, deep labor shortages in the field and inefficiencies in analog adjustment processes, leading to excessive burden of adjustments, are issues that remain, hindering the entire industry's productivity.

We aim to realize an industry where people can concentrate on creative work and essential decision-making by connecting the design, adjustment, manufacturing, and construction processes with data, and by redesigning work processes where humans and AI can collaborate.

BALLAS aims for DX that does not force DX on clients and partners.

The "BALLAS" construction material adjustment platform, as a supplier, captures initial information during design, adjustment, and manufacturing, and promotes standardization and optimization of the industry. We want to provide an experience where "if you use BALLAS, work will be optimized without changing how you do things."

Role Description:

Transform the knowledge and judgment cultivated through construction management into standards for the next generation of the construction industry.

In the field, judgments based on experience like "If it's this drawing, it will be assembled like this" or "If it's this process, confirm this first" are made daily. However, much of this is dependent on individual experience and intuition, and does not remain as an organizational asset.

At BALLAS, we organize and standardize such field knowledge and judgment processes, transforming them into workflows that anyone can reproduce.

In the future, we aim to utilize this knowledge with AI, achieving further efficiency in design, adjustment, production, and construction operations.

This role involves taking the experience gained as a construction manager and contributing it not just to one site, but to improving the productivity of the entire industry.

Specific Job Duties:

• Design and Drafting: Design and create drawings for specialized building materials used in stores, commercial facilities, offices, hotels, residences, etc.
• Drawing Review: Review drawings created internally by the team.
• Process Improvement: Engage in planning activities to improve the design process.
• Drawing Requests: Request and receive drawings from partner design companies.
• Site Visits: Accompany clients and partners on site visits.

In addition to performing duties, a crucial mission is to organize, structure, and standardize the unique judgments and "black box" knowledge present in each project, transforming it into usable data.
