About the Role

The Neurodiagnostic Lab at MVH is seeking a dedicated Electroneuro Technologist - I to join their team. This part-time position involves performing a variety of neurodiagnostic procedures, requiring independent work and a strong understanding of established protocols. The role offers a chance to work with patients of all ages and contribute to critical diagnostic processes.

Position Summary

Independently perform neurodiagnostic procedures including routine and long-term electroencephalograms (EEGs) and all modalities of evoked potential procedures within your scope of practice. You will be knowledgeable in correct EEG, long-term monitoring (LTM), continuous (CEEG)/ICU monitoring, and evoked potential (EP) performance, including recognition of clinically significant events, while adhering to facility policies and procedures. Professional judgment and effective communication with neurologists and staff are essential. This role may involve on-call responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Perform EEG procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician on patients of all ages according to established protocols.
  • Evaluate EEGs and EP studies for technical quality.
  • Assist Neurologists in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
  • Obtain clinical history and data for correlation with the EEG/EP procedure.
  • Ensure electrode application in adherence with the International 10-20 System.
  • Implement activation procedures and safety measures in accordance with EEG/EP policies and procedures.
  • Identify various types of EEG patterns.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and co-workers.
  • Assess learning needs and educate patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs; thoroughly educate patients about the exam.
  • Coordinate patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Ensure all records, files, and reports are properly recorded as required; perform clerical duties when necessary; verify a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Maintain knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.

Requirements

Education

  • Required: High School completion / GED
  • Preferred: Associate degree

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • CPR Certification required
  • R.EEG.T board-eligible
  • R.EP.T board-eligible

Experience

  • Required: No prior job-related work experience
  • Preferred: Two years of experience in Electroencephalograms (EEG) and Evoked Potentials (EP)

Knowledge/Skills

  • Electrode application
  • Pattern recognition
  • Correlates patient history and clinical symptoms
