Senior Cloud Engineer / Platform Engineer (m/w/d)

Your Role

As a Senior Cloud Engineer in the Shared Service IT of SelectLine Group Holding, you will advance the group-wide Azure platform—from networking and site connectivity to Azure Virtual Desktop and the monitoring stack. You will implement the requirements of subsidiaries using Infrastructure as Code and support the gradual migration of on-premise workloads to the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Develop the cloud platform as a whole—shared services, networking, firewall, site connectivity—based on existing structures and conventions.
• Build, operate, and deploy Windows images for Azure Virtual Desktop environments, on which our ERP systems will run in the cloud.
• Implement service requests from business units into Terraform modules, deploy them into existing stacks, and document them clearly.
• Support the migration of acquired companies—from analyzing on-premise workloads to defining the cloud target architecture.
• Expand the monitoring, security, and observability stack (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender) and establish backup, recovery, and audit mechanisms.
• Actively participate in and further develop our architectural standards and ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) within the team.

Qualifications

• You are proficient and secure in using Terraform productively.
• You have a deep understanding of the Azure platform architecture (Subscriptions, VNets, Identity, RBAC, Private Endpoints) and think in terms of Azure Well-Architected principles.
• You have experience with Azure Virtual Desktop—setup, image management, operation.
• You enjoy working with existing architectures, familiarizing yourself with existing codebases and conventions, and developing them meaningfully.
• You have a basic understanding of on-premise environments in medium-sized businesses to cleanly analyze migration projects (no specific ERP knowledge required).
• You work in a structured, service-oriented, and results-oriented manner, and communicate technical matters clearly.
• You possess very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken.

Bonus (Not a Showstopper)

• Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305) or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and ITSM workflows.
• Confident use of tools like Claude Code, Copilot, or other agentic AI tools in an infrastructure context.
