The Commercial Finance Team

Our growing Finance team is seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to join the Commercial Finance division, specifically supporting the Marketing and Growth teams. This role involves managing the P&L and Balance Sheet to achieve the financial plan, supporting strategic financial decisions, and driving performance improvements. You will own the end-to-end financials and financial controls for your designated business areas, enjoying the challenge of supporting and challenging business initiatives, building business cases, evaluating investment choices, and analyzing data for strategic insights.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the business and finance departments.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of the Growth and Marketing budget, including all associated costs (brand, performance, non-working) and new customer growth forecasts.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with the business leadership team by demonstrating genuine curiosity about products, marketing, and operations, and engaging with key growth levers and profitability drivers.
  • Drive and optimize the commercial performance of the Growth and Marketing Collective through actionable insights on acquisition performance, Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), customer quality, Lifetime Value (LTV), and payback periods.
  • Hold business leadership accountable for forecast delivery, assisting them in course correction and anticipating future risks and opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation of bottom-up forecasts (short and long-range), collaborating with the FP&A team for planning and stress-testing cycles.
  • Analyze and explain actual financial performance to support FP&A and Investor Relations in crafting the appropriate narrative.
  • Contribute to Monzo's overall equity story.
  • Support the development of a highly competent and motivated team of financial analysts, setting clear objectives for ongoing development to partner with existing and new businesses.
  • Lead business partnering for your specific area and represent the company’s commercial dynamics to the wider team.

We’d Love to Hear From You If You Have:

  • Demonstrable experience in financial business partnering, ideally with prior experience supporting Marketing and/or Growth teams.
  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • Strong financial modeling skills (advanced Excel/Google Sheets/Anaplan).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to identify trends, issues, and recommend actions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage across various internal functions to develop, prioritize, gain buy-in, and deliver outcomes.
  • The ability to confidently present data effectively, understanding end-user needs and tailoring presentations accordingly.
  • Experience building strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in building business cases, presenting, and debating investment choices.
  • A hands-on approach and a willingness to support colleagues, projects, or tasks of varying sizes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with experience in developing new processes and streamlining existing ones for efficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL, data analysis, and using forecasting tools.
