- $85,871 to $162,771 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)
- $77,283 to $146,464 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)
- In CA: Typical hiring range is $123,077.70 to $170,941.25
The expected base salary will vary based on experience, skills, and location. An in-person interview may be required.
Responsibilities:
- Write high-quality code for complex scenarios with good test coverage.
- Review and translate product requirements into robust designs for high-quality distributed application systems that are modular, configurable, reusable, fast, effective, user-friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable.
- Lead design and code reviews of multiple applications to ensure best practices, adherence to Mercury standards, and high quality.
- Lead sprint teams to deliver new or improved features, addressing impediments.
- Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders for successful delivery.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
- Experience:
- Minimum: 5+ years software programming experience, with 2+ years in Technologies used at Mercury, and over one year leading/mentoring engineering teams.
- Preferred: 5+ years backend development (Java), 4+ years Springboot/APIs/Microservices, 3+ years CI/CD (Kubernetes, Jenkins), 2+ years Kafka/AWS/S3/Drools/Blaze, 1+ year Guidewire Policy Center.
- Skills:
- Proficient in programming (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript).
- Experienced with data structures, algorithms, design patterns, relational databases, NoSQL, and caching.
- Skilled in APIs (REST, gRPC) and message queuing/streaming frameworks (Kafka, NiFi, SQS, etc.).
- Knowledgeable in microservices architecture.
- Experienced in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficient in leveraging DevSecOps.
- Experienced in designing and implementing high-quality distributed application systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills through mentoring.
- Experienced in driving technical strategy and vision.
- Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
