Associate Director - NEC Project Manager

About the Role

Due to significant growth, Turner & Townsend is seeking Associate Directors who are NEC3 and NEC4 accredited Project Managers to join our expanding team. You will lead high-calibre teams to deliver a wide range of high-profile infrastructure projects and programmes across the South-East region. This role is based in our London office, with opportunities for hybrid working depending on client requirements. You will play a key role in mentoring and developing the next generation of Project Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple disciplines, teams, advisors, and clients on infrastructure projects/programmes throughout their lifecycle, demonstrating proven success and the ability to set strategy.
  • Administer NEC3 and NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contracts, holding a named Project Manager role or having concluded a representative role within the last 12 months.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills, setting high standards, managing performance, and utilizing resources efficiently to exceed stakeholder expectations in challenging environments.
  • Accountable for health, safety, and wellbeing within your sphere of responsibility, with a practical understanding of CDM.
  • Anticipate client challenges, determine applicable solutions, and innovate sustainably.
  • Promote inclusive teamwork and foster trust with empathy, driving a 'one business' collaboration mindset.
  • Develop and grow client and industry partnerships.
  • Influence and lead to bring the company's purpose and vision to life.
  • Coach and mentor others, fostering development and a thirst for learning, while spotting and nurturing emerging potential.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to build long-term trusted advisor relationships.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NEC3 or NEC4 Accredited Project Manager.
  • Significant experience managing multiple disciplines/teams/advisors/clients on infrastructure projects/programmes across the lifecycle.
  • Significant experience administering NEC3 and NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contracts in a named Project Manager role or equivalent within the last 12 months.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to succeed in ambiguous environments.
  • Practical understanding of CDM.
  • Ability to anticipate client challenges and provide solutions.
  • Promoter of inclusive teamwork and collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Creative, curious, and growth mindset.

Beneficial Experience:

  • Experience with complex and multiple forms of procurement and managing NEC contracts.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors on infrastructure projects and programmes.
  • Consultancy and/or client-side project management experience.
  • Familiarity with public sector organisations relevant to infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with sustainability applications to projects/programmes.

Preferable Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in a management, construction, or infrastructure-related subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional affiliation with the APM, ICE, or an equivalent professional institution.
  • Project management certification (e.g., APM / PRINCE2 / MSP / ChPP).
  • CSCS / equivalent.
  • Sustainability qualifications (e.g., Carbon Literacy).
  • Safety qualifications / accreditations.
  • Soft skills / leadership certification.
