About the Role

Amentum is seeking a Launch and Recovery Technician I to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission on Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and a key component of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, providing essential deep and shallow water test and training environments.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform launch and recovery of NAVSEA/NAVAIR vehicles from vessels and helicopters.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on various launcher systems, including Telescopic Target Launcher/MK-32, Mod-17 Surface Launcher, Helicopter MK-146 Helicopter Launcher, MK-59 Torpedo Tube, and Smokey SAM Launchers.
  • Execute launch operations involving fire control systems aboard marine vessels and helicopters for various NAVSEA/NAVAIR undersea vehicles.
  • Maintain hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment supporting launcher and recovery systems, both ashore and at sea.
  • Perform incoming inspections on RFI undersea vehicles; handle, prepare, and transport vehicles and associated equipment according to NAVAIR/NAVSEA/NAVFAC guidelines.
  • Operate tractor-trailers, forklifts, and overhead cranes in compliance with NAVFAC guidelines.
  • Conduct rigging operations for heavy equipment according to NAVFAC standards.
  • Handle and transport hazardous ordnance material up to 1.1 in accordance with NAVORD standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Two (2) years of experience in launch and recovery, hydraulics, and/or electronics.
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol screenings and DOT medical examinations.
  • Valid passport and driver's license required.
  • Must be able to reside in a remote location with limited medical facilities.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Secret security clearance preferred.
  • AA/AS degree in Electronics or military equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of U.S. Navy Basic and Advanced Underwater Torpedo School preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of related experience launching undersea vehicles preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience operating forklifts, tractor-trailers, and overhead cranes preferred.
  • One (1) year of electronics technology experience preferred.
  • NAVFAC crane operator certification preferred.
  • CDL with HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
