Die interface projects GmbH is a dynamic software company based in Dresden, focusing on Enterprise Search, Machine Learning, and Generative AI. Our product, INTERGATOR, is a semantic enterprise search solution utilized across industry, government, and research institutions.

As we advance our product and deployment strategies, Kubernetes is set to become the central technical backbone for development, testing, and operations. To strengthen our IT/Infrastructure team, we are seeking a Kubernetes Platform Engineer with both operational and strategic responsibilities for our Kubernetes environments.

We are looking for you to join our team with the following profile:

Responsibilities

As a Kubernetes Platform Engineer, you will assume primary responsibility for the setup, operation, and further development of our Kubernetes clusters. You will be the central point of contact for Kubernetes-related topics within the company, ensuring stable, secure, and reproducible platform structures.

Your tasks will include:

  • Setup, operation, and administration of our Kubernetes clusters based on RKE2 / Rancher (PROD, Dev, and Reference environments)
  • Conception and implementation of a sustainable Kubernetes architecture strategy
  • Ensuring stability, security, backup, and update strategies
  • Monitoring, logging, and observability of the cluster environments
  • Standardization of deployment processes (e.g., Helm, GitOps, CI/CD integration)
  • Close collaboration with product development to optimize the deployability of our software
  • Evaluation and support of OpenShift environments in customer or project contexts
  • Support for the admin team in building Kubernetes expertise
  • Support for the Professional Services team with Kubernetes-related questions in customer projects
  • Documentation of architecture, operational processes, and best practices
  • Evaluation of suitable platforms and distributions (On-Premises and Cloud)

You will work closely with architecture, backend development, DevOps, and IT administration, but will independently take on platform and operational responsibility for Kubernetes.

Qualifications

  • Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification – or equivalent practical experience
  • Several years of practical experience in setting up and operating productive Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience with Rancher and/or RKE2 is advantageous
  • Ideally, knowledge of OpenShift or the willingness to immerse yourself deeply
  • Sound knowledge of container technologies (Docker, OCI)
  • Experience with deployment and packaging tools (e.g., Helm, GitOps)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging stacks
  • Good Linux knowledge and a solid understanding of networks and IT security
  • Ideally, experience with cloud Kubernetes platforms (e.g., AKS, EKS)
  • Structured, responsible, and independent working style
  • Enjoyment in sharing knowledge within the team and standardizing processes
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills

(Native German speaker or at least C1 level)
