THE OPPORTUNITY

This senior leadership role is responsible for the global delivery of full-service clinical trials. The position requires strategic oversight of project management and finance teams to ensure seamless execution, operational excellence, and exceptional client experiences throughout the project lifecycle. The individual will be a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, driving innovation, and developing scalable processes. They will champion initiatives for sustainable growth, high-quality reporting, and achieving divisional goals, while also advancing operational effectiveness through process optimization, policy development, and quality oversight. This role involves mentorship of global staff, fostering a culture of accountability, and acting as a trusted partner to sponsors and clients, including supporting business development efforts.

Responsibilities

Operational Planning & Oversight (40-50%)

  • Participate in operational planning as part of the senior management team, advocating for the functional area and supported stakeholders.
  • Guide departmental planning to translate strategic plans into measurable operational goals.
  • Oversee project development, including negotiation with sponsors, assessing resource and financial requirements, assigning resources, managing trial conduct, and supporting project teams in troubleshooting.
  • Ensure sufficient project-level staffing and maintain utilization targets.
  • Represent project operations on cross-departmental planning initiatives.

Unit Leadership, Team Management and Engagement (30-40%)

  • Serve as a role model, motivator, and mentor to the Clinical Project Operations team.
  • Ensure functional areas are adequately staffed with qualified personnel.
  • Provide ongoing support to managers in work allocation, resource planning, staff allocation, training, development, employee engagement, team development, and performance management.
  • Act as a senior representative of the project operations team at client meetings.
  • Represent project operations at business development meetings, including bid defenses and general capabilities presentations.
  • Attend and present at investigator meetings as needed.

Product Service/Excellence (10-15%)

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to achieve excellence in project services.
  • Evaluate and implement recommendations to minimize organizational risk, meet regulatory and industry standards, and promote programs supporting growth.

Budget Planning & Financial Risk Management (10-15%)

  • Plan, manage, advocate, and report on behalf of the department during budget and annual operational review processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of financial and regulatory risks and requirements, directing the development of methodologies to manage them.
  • Collaborate with business development to prepare budgets and proposal text for RFPs, RFIs, and SOWs.
  • Oversee change order development for full-service projects to ensure project cost realization aligns with work performed.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate university degree (Bachelor or Honors Bachelor) with a minimum of 10 years of related experience and ongoing development, OR College diploma/degree with a minimum of 15 years of related experience.
  • Deep experience in full-service project management leadership, coaching, and leading a team with an excellence mindset.
  • Significant financial resource management experience, including participation in budget setting, autonomous expenditure decisions (within policy), and financial reconciliation/reporting.
  • Candidates are primarily sought from Canada, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Brazil, Ireland, or the UK, but applications from other countries are welcome if experience aligns with role requirements.
