The Opportunity
We are seeking a driven Business Affairs Manager to join our unique agency. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep advertising and marketing expertise who is passionate about delivering exceptional work across all channels. You will bring a strong understanding of the creative process, exceptional judgment, and the ability to manage complex business, legal, and talent-related matters in a dynamic environment. You will partner closely with Liberty Mutual Corporate Legal, Advertising, Procurement, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Review advertising content, providing expert guidance on intellectual property, marketplace risk, and legal concerns related to creative materials.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for SAG-AFTRA and the Joint Policy Committee (JPC), managing commercial contract negotiations and union requirements.
- Oversee talent strategy, negotiate talent agreements, track costs, and manage overscale talent.
- Monitor the AI production landscape, advising on internal policies for AI-generated content and its intellectual property implications.
- Collaborate with producers, creatives, business stakeholders, and external agency teams throughout the creative and production lifecycle.
- Manage licensing, usage rights, and renewals for all creative assets, including music, stock photography, and video.
- Support spokesperson and mascot appearances, ensuring rights management and compliance.
- Manage network clearance for all broadcast content.
- Support production partner management, including contracting and vendor relationships.
- Ensure business affairs guidance aligns with Liberty Mutual's brand voice and advertising objectives.
- Liaise with Liberty Mutual Corporate Legal, Procurement, Advertising, Copper Giants, external agencies, talent unions, and outside counsel.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Significant Business Affairs experience in advertising, brand marketing, or a similar environment, with a deep understanding of the creative development process.
- Expertise in talent negotiations, SAG-AFTRA agreements, intellectual property, rights management, and advertising legal/business affairs.
- Strong judgment, communication, presentation, project management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience leveraging emerging technologies, including Generative AI.
- Experience in regulated industries like insurance or financial services is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant, progressive experience in a marketing-driven organization.
- Advanced knowledge of marketing communications principles and practices.
- Experience working with and/or managing outside agencies.
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation, organizational, coordination, project management, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with relevant technologies.
- Budget management and project management experience preferred.
- Ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
- Proactive learner, eager to apply new skills.
- Understanding of the insurance industry, products, services, and trends.
